Where is 10 Mil Pure Guardian® Made?
This vapor barrier is 100% made in America. The resins are blown into film, cooled, rolled and packaged all in the USA.
I read a vapor barrier used in a crawl space should be made from virgin material, is that right?
Yes, that is exactly right. Virgin, first use polyethylene will give your home the longest service life. It costs a little bit more, but well worth it in the long run.
Can I use this barrier as a floor liner or is it just for walls?
Pure Guardian® is regularly installed on the floor as well as the walls by installation companies and the DIY customer. It does make a better wall liner but in a low traffic crawl space, there is no reason it should not be used on the floor.
What roll sizes are available?
We offer this 10 Mil vapor barrier in one size 10' wide by 100' long making it 1000 square feet. This product is folded in half and then rolled on a cardboard core.
How big is the roll when it gets delivered?
This product is approximately 5' long by 6" round and weighs about 55 pounds. We wrap all of our barriers in a protective cover to greatly reduce shipping damage.
Do I have to worry about mold growing on this vapor barrier?
No, Pure Guardian® is made with an anti-fugal additive to prevent any microbial growth on the barrier. You will find this additive in all of our products with the Guardian name.
How long will this vapor barrier last?
If we don't consider abuse, it is installed in an encapsulated crawl space where sun light has been eliminated and it is installed in a low traffic environment you can expect this product to last 15-30 years. The difference between lasting 15 years vs 30 years will depend on the crawl traffic.
Where should I not install this barrier?
Anywhere sunlight is allowed to contact it.
Can I use this vapor barrier under concrete?
Yes this product will do very well under a concrete slab.
