moved into a home that has a crawlspace that sat for about a year in the humid east coast summer heat. then some into the fall. layed down the 20mil vapor barrier ..immediately the next day after 90-95% of the earth under was covered , not even done taping and still some small spots exposed.. the foundation had begun to dry. even parts of the house were joist had significant and visible moisture it quickly started to dry. Havent used my moisture meter on the sub flooring yet( which is visible due to putting down new hardwood) but according to my thermometer which has a RH reading. it went from anywhere from 55-70 % ( before vapor barrier) to right around 45-35 % ( after installation of vapor barrier) . The Vapor barrier feels and looks like true 20mil. I have yet to see a better product around. Highly recommend to anyone looking to encapsulate or just have some added protection from moisture in there crawlspace. !
great sturdy strong product, fast to delivery highly recomanded
This is an extremely heavy duty product. I got it to put on some particularly heavy traffic sections of my crawlspace floor; elsewhere (floor and walls) the 12-mil product is more than adequate. The only two to consider are the 12-mil and 20-mil DrySpace.
This product appears to be everything it says it is. Time will tell. Would recommend this material to anyone for this application.
I have a space that is approximately 1,000 square feet in area and 5 feet in height. I wanted to use this space for general storage and storage of lawn equipment, so I needed a product to accommodate that. The floor was originally dirt which I leveled adding an average of 3 inches of 1B limestone to bring the floor up to the footer elevation. Based on recommendations from CrawlSpace Repair.com, I covered the limestone and footer with Felt 550 as an underlayment then finished with the 20 mil Silverback with string reinforcement. I ran the Silverback up the walls approximately 6 inches and secured it to the walls with Premium Encapsulation Caulking. I used the Waterproof ProSeam Tape on all seams following the proper installation procedures provided in the company videos. Finally, I attached one circulation fan to the ceiling and plugged it into a timer to promote air circulation. I no longer need a dehumidifier. The space is clean, dry and holds up to heavy foot and equipment traffic. I am extremely pleased with the products and the result.
