I don’t go in my crawl space much, is this reinforcement style the best?
The reinforcement used the 12 Mil GuardianLiner® has been used by professional installers since 2001. It is the most tested and used method to strengthen the vapor barrier in the crawl space repair industry and by far the most popular.
A competitor said your vapor barrier stinks and I should buy theirs, is that true?
No, our vapor barriers do not have a smell. The truth is our vapor barriers are the only products in this industry that are tested safe to be used indoors by an independent lab and you get a certificate with those results. The competition may try to deceive you about our vapor barriers, but that is because they cannot match our quality, performance and value.
How many inches thick is this vapor barrier?
We measure the thickness in a unit call Mil. A Mil is equivalent to 0.001 inches. So this 12 Mil is 0.012 inches thick at the plastic between the reinforcement and 15 Mil or 0.015 inches at the reinforcement.
How long will this vapor barrier last?
Mostly the answer to that question depends on how much abuse it will endure. Generally speaking you can expect it to have a service life of 25-30 years. Make sure, if you are going to visit your crawl space often, you also put down something like the Felt550® Underlayment Protection to protect it. This product can be installed under the vapor barrier as well as on top to protect from crawl and foot traffic.
Does the white side always go up?
The most common way to install our vapor barriers is the white side up. However, you can put the colored side up if you wish it will not hurt anything.
Is this vapor barrier safe to put in my house?
Yes, the 12 Mil GuardianLiner® SR passes the Tested Pure™ requirements for use indoors. Every roll is serial numbered and comes with a certificate of test results and a warranty certificate when your products are registered for the 30 year warranty at CrawlSpaceEncapsulation.com.
Can this be installed over rock in my crawl space?
Yes, our vapor barriers are extremely durable and perform much better than other options. Depending on how much traffic you have in your crawl space you may see dimpling of the plastic from the rocks.
Where is this vapor barrier made?
GuardianLiner® SR is proudly made in the United States. Unlike the lower cost import plastic sold as “American made”, GuardianLiner® SR is made from American first use polyethylene resin, blown into film by Americans, laminated by Americans, packaged by Americans and sold by American Companies. Don’t be fooled when others put a Made in USA sticker on their imported plastic.
Your competitor told me this will fall apart, is that true?
It is not true, CrawlSpaceRepair.com, LLC was started in 2007 and began making products for the industry in 2010. If our products didn’t last, we wouldn’t have lasted either. We focus on make products better not making them cheaper.
I’m worried about mold and fungus growing under the vapor barrier, does this product stop that?
All GuardianLiner® vapor barriers are made with an anti-fungal/anti-microbial additive in both the top and bottom layers. This is not a topical treatment it is inside the plastic to enhance the polyethylene’s natural ability to resist mold and mildew. That means GuardianLiner® is protected against mold and mildew growth on the surface of the vapor barrier.
Can I use this vapor barrier on the walls too?
