Crawl Space Foundation Pins™ – Mechanical Vapor Barrier Fasteners

A long-lasting and secure installation method for your crawl space vapor barrier with our premium Crawl Space Foundation Pins™. Designed for durability, these pins permanently attach your vapor barrier to the foundation wall, using a 1/4" drill bit, preventing sagging and improve moisture from escaping from around the vapor barrier.

Note: Foundation Pins are not required for securing vapor barriers to concrete piers or supports. Instead seal the top using the incredibly sticky StickE® seam tape two times around the support at the top.

Do I have to put vapor barrier in the walls?
Best practice is to attach the floor barrier to the foundation wall. If your walls are leaking or weeping water then the barrier should extend above that point. For best results you should attach the wall barrier over the outside dirt level. Also, know that when sealing the barrier to the wall the cleanest portion of the foundation wall is at the top and the dirtiest is at the bottom. To get the best seal the wall should be clean.

What size drill bit do I need to install the wall fasteners?
The Foundation Pins™ require a 1/4” hole. Use a drill bit that is 1/4”.

How far apart do I install these pins?
The Foundation Pins™ work best if you install them about 16” apart along the wall and install one pin on each wall in the corners about 1-2” from the corner. You will also install the pins along the sides and under the access door as well as the any beam pockets.

Can I use these fasteners to hold up insulation?
The Foundation Pins™ are not long enough to go through wall insulation because they are 1.25” long and needs to penetrate the wall by at least 1/2”.  Instead use the Foam Board Insulation Pins.
