20 mil encapsulation

Rating:

Pros:
Cons:
This company has some of the best products and great service. The 20 mil encapsulation material, seam tape, and foundation seal were better than I expected. The foundation pins were a little flimsy. Our crawlspace looks like it was done professionally and we did it ourselves with your great products. Keep up the great work.

Pros:
  • Strong
  • Thick
  • and well made
Cons:
  • Heavy
This stuff is thick, heavy, and hard to deal with in big sheets by yourself. Being that it is well made and strong. My crawl floor is not very flat and has some rocks in it so I chose 20 mil to hold up against being ripped.

I used this 20 mil Silverback on the floor of our crawl space due to the excessive rocks. It was the perfect choice as it is tough and won't wear through. The folks at CrawlSpaceRepair.com did an excellent job of guiding me through the installation process. Very easy.

Pros:
  • saved a ton $$$$
  • Excellent customer service
Cons:
Took on a 2400 Square foot encapsulation of my homes crawlspace. Was overwhelming at first but the material quote and outstanding assistance from Larry took majority of the guess work out. Went with 12 mil silverback reinforced poly for the walls and pillars and 20 mil silverback reinforced poly for the floors. 90 pint dehumidifier and pump. Material quote was spot on with just enough material for the job. Entire job took 2 months working at my leisure with the help of my father. Wood moisture readings previous to encapsulation were 18-25% with humidity readings of 80-85% . Wood readings post encapsulation are now as low as 6% some places and cant find a reading over 15% anywhere. Humidity is now steady at 53% with the dehumidifier cycling on and off. Highly recommend fan kit to improve dehumidifier efficiency. This job is not for a first time DIY person but someone with average skills can be successful. I saved about $15,000 by doing this job myself.
