Crawl Space Odor

This video shows the cause and solution of a post crawl space encapsulation® odor. The solution is easier than you think. Taking out the quality of the crawl space vapor barrier that is used, the odor comes from soil gasses released from the earth. Prior to the crawl space vapor barrier being installed the moisture levels in the soil were much lower and those lower levels slowed or put the natural micro organisms that live int he soil in a dormant state. Once the crawl space vapor barrier was installed it greatly reduced the amount of moisture that will evaporate into the air. These elevated moisture levels in the soil reactivates the bacterial in the ground and the decomposition of the organic material in the ground begins again....and you have stink.
