So far I could not be more pleased with the white/silver liner I ordered to be installed in the crawl space of our home. I had obtained an estimate from a local company that specializes in crawl space solutions. The installed price was over $6,000. After some on line research I found your site and product information. The liner I purchased is very comparable with what the contractor uses. I could not afford a solution totally comparable to the contractor's solution which did have other components I chose to eliminate, but I believe this was a great compromise. Compromising saved me over $4,000!
I spent hours laying out this stuff. While doing this I proceeded to roll and crawl all over it to anchor it to the walls, tape seams and cut around posts. There wasn't a single tear in the material after all of this. I feel fairly reassured that this will hold up pretty well. Despite the material's resistance to my movements, it was still relatively easy to cut with a pair of regular scissors (no fraying at the ends either) and the drill bit went right through when it came time to put the anchoring pins in. As long as you aren't making a habit of throwing your sharp tools carelessly around on it then everything should be fine. The material is still easy enough to fold and bend around corners. There was a little more bend resistance than the usual 6-mil material but it didn't cause me any trouble. I do like that this was available in a smaller size. I was only dealing with a 12'x16' addition crawl space and didn't need anything more than the 4'x80' roll. It gave me plenty to work with in case of mistakes without leaving too much excess left over.
This is an exceptionally strong product. I tried to tear a piece and found it not only would not tear but even getting it to stretch was very difficult. It lays out nicely and looks great. I am very happy.
We had an extremely wet spring this year and I had a strong musty odor coming up from the air returns into my home. The inside humidity rose to 81%. I contacted a contractor who happened to do work in a house with an encapsulated crawl space and thought it would be a good solution for me. Since encapsulating my crawl space and installing a dehumidifier and one fan, the humidity in my crawl space has dropped to a perfect 45% and the temperature is staying about 70 degrees. After just about one month, this seems to be a very good solution. The humidity inside my home is back to normal and the musty odor is completely gone.
Very good product, only thing it should be shipped in cardboard had a couple holes in lost 3 feet, from ship other than that good stuff
