I used the tape to join vapor barrier on the ground in my crawl space. It did everything it said it would. I liked the wide width, it sticks very well to the plastic and I would up over-taping the seams on the plastic draping my foundation walls because it was much superior to what I had originally used
The first time you remodel and have troops of trades people crawling around on your vapor barrier you'll be glad for the extra mils. I was completely comfortable moving my furnace and water heater into the crawl space to free up living space because the 20 mils will stand up to installation and maintenance traffic.
The installers in my crawl space used a tape that is 2 3/4" wide. Given 2000 sq. ft. over time there were 3 areas that needed repair. The 4" tape is excellent for this task or even a new install. Tape is tight to pull (a good thing) an adheres very well. Overall a great value. Shipping costs are a bite but not a deal breaker. Like most products you get what you pay for! 5 Stars
This tape is awesome. It is one of the strongest tapes that I have ever used on any project. It is very easy to work with and has excellent adhesion. I highly recommend it.
So I bought the barrier a year ago, before I realized that I needed to dig a French drain system and core drill an outfall pipe through my foundation at my vacation home. My advice is don't plan on taking any shortcuts. Wipe down the concrete before installing the double sided tape, drill and pin the membrane as they tell you to, buy the underlaid "felt". In hindsight, I would only buy the 6.5 ft wide membrane. The 13' wide is too hard to handle with just one person. The stuff works. The amount of moisture it traps under the floor layer is significantly more than the loose laid black plastic the builder installed.
