Pros:
  • Very space efficient
Cons:
  • Just a little noisy
I purchased my Moisturizer Medic HC70 to replace my Santa Fe Impact that started needing recharging every year after the warranty ran out. I have had just over a week and am very happy. It is a little more noisy, but I can live with that. Performance is what impresses me.

This kit simply is the way to go for a simple install. It wasn't hard to mount and I was able to get my 70 pint unit exactly where I want it under my floor joists and easily level it.

Website information made it clear that I should add circulation assist to the Moisture Medic purchased. My main reason was to “balance” the humidity in our 1,850 sq.ft. area. Our home has a lot of piers and is not a wide open square. Using a few hygrometers I noticed a couple of areas in the space where the % was higher or uneven throughout. This fan kit seems to have helped with circulation of the air.

Glancing over the installation instructions at first seemed very confusing but if you will follow the written instructions line by line it will make sense and go without a hitch.

I also added some ductwork to inlet and outlet of dehumidifier to assist in directing the airflow so that I get a better circular movement of conditioned air. Very happy with results.

The 70 Pint Moisture Medic DH I ordered happens to be made by AprilAire, so you’re sure of a quality product. To get it through my small crawlspace opening, I had to remove it’s feet. But with use of the AprilAire hang kit, the feet weren’t to be used anyway. Perhaps it might have been easier with two people getting the DH into the crawlspace and into position, but I ended up doing it all by myself. Just inside my crawlspace, I placed in a small dolly. Pulled the DH through the opening and onto the dolly. From there I was able to slowly wheel the Moisture Medic over the 6 mil ground cover into the place to be hung. I went the extra mile ordering the Moisture Medic with the 8620W AprilAire Wi-Fi Thermostat. In my case, this is also to be installed in the Crawlspace allowing monitoring and control from one’s iphone or Android. Upon installing the 8620W, it’s backlight would not come on. Called AprilAire and together we determined it was defective. Within a couple weeks a replacement was sent via Crawlspaserepair. Installed it and it worked fine. All working well and the savings by DIY is considerable.

Our new unit is currently installed and has been running for a week plus now in our newly encapsulated Crawlspace. The unit is extremely well built, quiet, and is pulling lots of moisture from under the house. We placed the discharge tube into a 5 gallon bucket outside our crawlspace. Every morning it is already overflowing so the unit is working well. We are very pleased with quality and the value we received. The mold remediation company wanted to charge $400 dollars more so we purchased the unit ourself. Thank you for the great deal and free shipping. The unit shipped the same day and arrived 3 days later. I will look forward to doing business again. Thank you!
