I just installed my Moisture Medic in my crawl space this morning. I am not a professional and I've never worked with any air conditioners, HVAC systems, or dehumidifiers. The instructions are bare bones and provide little explanation on what the different mode settings are for/do. I figured it out enough to get it going, so I guess it's not impossible, but there are a few settings I have no idea what they are for so I just left them disabled. The website for Moisture Medic says they can be installed by non-professionals and they provide warranty, but they really need to do a better job with their supporting documentation. I can only comment on the installation aspect. Quality and durability will prove out over time.
While looking for a cheaper version of the aprilaire 1820 I found the site for crawspacerepair. This is where I found the moister medic. Read reviews stating it's the same product. Decided to order since it was saving me money and it arrived in 2 days by UPS. Used it in house with a 63% rh and brought it down to 55% the first 24 hrs. I moved it to craw space before the area was sealed of just to see what the the was. Rh was 83%. Set moister medic at 59% and unit ran all night bringing % Rh down to 69% . Unit was running full time so I set it to 75% and now the UN sealed craw space is 75% and unit cycles on and off. Floors in cabin are warmer and Rh Inside stays at 55%. Out side temp is 6°f overnight and 11° day time. In March I have local company coming to encapsulat the craw space. Very happy with moister medic and the ordering process. I saved over $1000.00 by not using the unit the other company was selling me in the packaged deal.
We love these machines! And the CrawlspaceRepair 2-day delivery is amazing. Remember to buy the suspension kit, it's a nice final touch for a beautiful install. The Moisture Medic is the only machine I buy.
Based on recommendation from our crawl space contractor, I purchased this unit direct from the company. The contractor installed the replacement unit with my limited assistance. The previous unit was 7 years old and was no longer dehumidifying. This 90:pint unit has functioned great so far and has greatly reduced humidity in our crawl space. The unit is more compact than previous unit and will hope that things continue on this very good start. Great part- cost was a good bit less than replacing the old unit!
Very easy to setup since I already had a working pump in place. Installed dehumidifier in sealed crawlspace that had a humidity of 78%. After running for an hour both the meter on the dehumidifier and a separate meter read 10% lower. I set it to 55% and it reached that in less than 6 hours. I didn't track close enough to know exact time. Very satisfied so far. Hope it works for a long time.
