I purchased this product because the encapsulation installer (AFS) I hired was planning to use "nail & washer" to attach liner to foundation walls. While I am not a structural engineer, common sense tells me that if you shoot a nail into a cinder block, there is a potential to crack the block. To ensure they would do it the right way, I put it in the contract that they would use pins. While the installer is to bring his own pins, I decided to purchase a few bags to ensure the installer has enough pins to do the job properly (and if they didn't, I will sell them the bags). As a note, AFS is a reputable company; but as a caution, installers will try to get away with doing things the easy and the wrong way. Make sure you watch all the videos on crawlspacerepair.com to understand the work required to encapsulate a crawlspace.
I was thinking about skipping these and securing the liner to the walls with a batten strip instead. I'm glad I bought them. They work great; you just need to drill a 1/4 hole and push them in.
These pins work great. I overestimated the amount needed to do my job. They're very strong.
I am very happy with the result since we converted a vented space that was a nightmare into one that was actually pleasant to be in. It should pay in utility bill dividends over the next few years.
WOW! You guys are the greatest. I called several times with several questions before I purchased the 12 Mil GuardianLiner™. Everyone I spoke to was very knowledgeable about crawl space encapsulation. We searched the web and I found you guys. I called and if you told me once you must have told me 20 times to seal the vents. I could not believe this would work. I did it and ordered the GuardianLiner™, the Foundation Seal Tape, the Waterproof Seam Tape, the Foundation Pins and a hygrometer. I would never have believed sealing the vents and encapsulating would be the answer to a problem we have had for over 30 years. Had we know this last year or 2 years ago, we could have saved a lot of money on insulation. I will definitely recommend you and your company to everyone I see who says they have a moisture problem in their crawl space. I have another friend whose brother paid around $10,000 to have his crawl space encapsulated on the eastern shore of Maryland. We did it for a fraction of the cost. Excellent, excellent product and excellent, excellent customer service from Bob, Caitlynn, and Larry. Kudos! Thanks again, GuardianLiner™ User and Believer
