I have a space that is approximately 1,000 square feet in area and 5 feet in height. I wanted to use this space for general storage and storage of lawn equipment, so I needed a product to accommodate that. The floor was originally dirt which I leveled adding an average of 3 inches of 1B limestone to bring the floor up to the footer elevation. Based on recommendations from CrawlSpace Repair.com, I covered the limestone and footer with Felt 550 as an underlayment then finished with the 20 mil Silverback with string reinforcement. I ran the Silverback up the walls approximately 6 inches and secured it to the walls with Premium Encapsulation Caulking. I used the Waterproof ProSeam Tape on all seams following the proper installation procedures provided in the company videos. Finally, I attached one circulation fan to the ceiling and plugged it into a timer to promote air circulation. I no longer need a dehumidifier. The space is clean, dry and holds up to heavy foot and equipment traffic. I am extremely pleased with the products and the result.
20 mil is a good strong durable product
I have been looking at encapsulating our homes foundation for years. I finally found a great price in SC.with a quality barrier.
My 600 sq ft metal building has a dirt floor and suffered from high humidity leading to mold and mildew. I placed the 20 mil with the silver side up, taped it to the metal frame and placed pins about every 18 inches. It looks great and has dramatically reduced humidity. An excellent product. I do suggest that when drilling the holes in the metal frame that instead of drilling 1/4” it was better to drill 7/32” holes. It made the plastic pins tighter.
This is three times heavier than anything I can find locally. I precut into sheets in the yard, I think dealing with the roll under the house would be quite hard. It's a bit stiff to get into the crawl space and unfold. As with another reviewer, I'm glad that day is behind me. I was sooo sore! It cuts like plastic with sizzors. The rocks and bits of broken concrete left from construction only put dents in this product, no holes. I am impressed with its strength.
